Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Business and Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng have called on millions of small businesses across the UK to take "small, practical" steps to cut their emissions as part of the UK's journey to net zero by 2050.
Together they launched the ‘business climate leaders' campaign through the new UK Business Climate Hub, where SMEs can find tools, resources and advice, including contact with leading climate experts, to develop a suitable green plan for them.
The push also aims to help businesses grow, increase employment, encourage investment and save their money on running costs to help them "maintain a competitive advantage locally and globally".
The UK's six million small businesses make up 99% of the UK's enterprises, employ 60% of the workforce and generate £2.2 trillion of revenue to the economy, so it is "crucial these enterprises take action and reduce their carbon footprint", according to the Government.
